2nd Year Lino Print
In this project, students explored the theme of self-portraiture through lino printing. They began by taking a series of photographs from different angles to study facial features, composition, and expression.
Using these references, they created observational drawings and thumbnail sketches to experiment with layout and contrast, focusing on the use of positive and negative space.
Students carried out artist research to gain inspiration and understand different printmaking styles and techniques. They then learned about the lino printing process, including design transfer, carving, and printing, while experimenting with colour layers and texture.
The project culminated in the creation of a final lino print self-portrait, demonstrating their understanding of composition, tone, and technical printmaking skills.
